The beating heart of Thornton-Cleveleys FC’s competitive spirit lies within our Senior teams. Divided into the 1st Team, Reserve team, and U23s squad, these squads offer a platform for players at various stages of their footballing journey to showcase their talents and contribute to the club’s success in the West Lancashire League.
The 1st Team:
The 1st team is led by interim manager Paul Gregory, supported by experienced coaches who bring a wealth of knowledge and tactical expertise to the pitch, fostering a competitive and rewarding environment for players. The 1st Team competes in the West Lancashire League, providing a challenging yet rewarding platform for players to refine their skills and contribute to the club’s standing.
The Reserve Team:
Dave Cross takes charge of the Reserve team for the upcoming season, drawing on his experience as assistant manager under Chris Brown. Alongside Aaron Roskell, Dave aims to build upon the Reserve team’s impressive 2nd place finish in Reserve Division 1 last season. The Reserve team plays a crucial role in developing young talent and fostering a pathway for them to progress to the 1st Team.
The ‘A’ Team
The first foray into senior football, the ‘A’ team has been added as a result of the popularity of the club and to add a real stepping stone. After players have started to transition into the adult game, the A Team gives time to develop and start the journey towards first team football. Coaches, Bryan Carney and Steve Buston take responsibility for developing players in the ‘A’ Team.
The U23s Team:
Bridging the gap between youth and senior football, the U23s squad provides a crucial steppingstone for young players transitioning into the adult game. Managed by Sean Danaher and coaches who work with and develop promising talent.
A Pathway for Local Talent:
Thornton-Cleveleys FC is committed to nurturing local talent and encouraging players to remain engaged with the game beyond youth football. The U23s squad plays a vital role in this philosophy, welcoming players from Junior football across the Fylde coast and providing them with the opportunity to develop their skills and compete at a higher level.
A Legacy of Development and Camaraderie:
Beyond the competitive spirit, the Senior teams at Thornton-Cleveleys FC cultivate a strong sense of community. Senior players forge lasting friendships and share a passion for the beautiful game. The club fosters a supportive environment where players are encouraged to learn from each other and grow together on and off the pitch.
